i was just looking at my steam library and saw vvvvvv, which i bought on steam a few months ago only to realize that it puts its savegames in the documents folder, which means i still had my save from the discord nitro distribution of the game.
for those who aren't aware, yes, there was a very short period of time when discord nitro had games! you could purchase games standalone, but most of them were playable free, but only if you had a nitro subscription. this set included vvvvvv.
and when i say "short period of time", i want to say it only lasted around 6 months, give or take a few months? (edit: its full release lasted exactly 1 year. still a comically short amount of time, and it says a lot that i basically forgot it lasted that long.) it was wildly unpopular from the outset. this was also right after the launch of the epic games store, so people were already kind of soured towards a new games store from that whole debacle. and discord didn't give people free games to onboard users like epic did!
what a weird footnote. i totally forgot about that for a while
