it’s called EXTRACURRICULAR and it’s about a bunch of high school and college students who get superpowers from their extracurricular activities in order to fight off the apocalypse. said apocalypse is the rise of something called Demons, giant sentient masses of shadow, eyes, and mouths that are manifestations of, well, people’s “inner demons”
they form in major cities and towns and are not stoppable by physical means. those who have been/are fighting their inner demons can ward them off/weaken them by taking their contribution out of the mass. those whose hobbies help them fight their demons - for example, a flute player whose marching band experience is helping her fight off her Bad Thoughts (me at age 15, i can put myself in my own video game, i make the rules) - can actually fight back using the magic/superpowers they gain.
the Demons leave people in a catatonic state, permanently asleep in their nightmares until their body cannot nourish them anymore. so death is slow and mentally agonizing. people can be woken up by loved ones, but Demons attack families simultaneously, making it hard to fight back. high schools and college campuses (especially campuses) become the last bastions of hope and safety due to the fact their students (and sometimes faculty) can keep themselves safe.
the game itself is both a turn based beat em up where you can have a team fighting off demons, and a choose your own adventure game. there is, however, no bad ending. this is a game about hope and compassion. the differences are just based on which characters you interact with.
good idea? bad idea? input please
