Ok my hot take on the Acolyte is that somebody should try to stand up to the Jedi’s shit but it should be literally anyone but a republic senator.

Like, the deal between the Jedi and the Republic is that the Republic grants the Jedi a near galactic mandate and in return, the Jedi will come in to settle any diplomatic turmoil.

I don’t think that Jedi being defenders of Peace and Justice should be taken on it’s face as like, a prescriptive necessity for Jedi stories to tell. I think the one line in Star Wars that has been used to lead that idea is from Obi-Wan Kenobi, who is an incredibly pro-Republic Jedi. His perception is that what counts as peace and Justice for the Republic is peace and Justice for everyone, which is not a mandatory ideal to uphold in every Star Wars story.

Why would a senator be upset with the Jedi? The Jedi are on call to resolve disputes as a sharpened tip of the republics diplomatic spear. Is there some kind of disgruntled constituency that had been slighted or smothered by the Jedi that the senator represents here or am I supposed to believe this politician is acting on ideals of fairness only?
