#Fuck Landlords
I saw a video on YouTube shorts of a man saying, "The hardest part about being a landlord is trying to find tenant." Like, have you tried killing yourself to alleviate that stress? If not, you should.
- Friend came out as a LANDLORD
- Starting talking about not giving someone a tendency due to being on benifits
- I am literally surviving on disability benefits, and have been made homeless in London due to landlords not letting me rent for the exact same reason
I have never felt the call of violence quite like I am now, I cannot look this dickhead in the eyes anymore. 5 minutes lmao the session is nowhere near starting
We received an email today alerting us that our apartment is scheduled for a viewing tomorrow. This struck Ash and I as shocking, as we hadn't been asked to renew our lease, but they were already going to start touring it out like we weren't here. This is how we learned we're not going to have a place to live come June.
We have spent 6 years in this apartment. In that time, our rent has gone up and up and up, while the rental company has done nothing to maintain, much less improve, the property. At the time of writing this, we are paying over a thousand dollars a month for two bedrooms the size of a shoebox, with no ventilation and a roach infestation that some college kids brought to the building 5 years ago and the rental company has done absolutely nothing to address. We don't have savings. We live paycheck to paycheck, barely scraping by through exhaustion and burnout. We don't even have a vehicle, because just owning one is a monthly expense we can't afford. Hell, Ash was denied a tax return this year, so we don't even have that little one-time buffer to help.
I don't know what to do. I am terrified and angry and fucking despondent.
The rental company must have realized they fucked up somewhere, because this morning we both got emails saying something to the effect of "we never got a response from you, do you still want to renew, respond by friday."
The lease is signed and taken care of now, though our rent's gone up another 30%. If this trend continues we'll be forced out by next year regardless. Landlords need to be fucking reigned in, if not outright abolished, I swear to god, this shit's unsustainable.
