the downtown courthouse is a beautiful building, featuring these huge, redbrick columns around its front face that create a natural awning with the overhang above. naturally, the entire thing is walled off by chain link fences--including the part of the awning that is used as the only point of entrance for folks who need a ramp. it's blocked off by a door instructing those who want to enter via this route to call for assistance (though that function is only available during normal business hours). one can only assume that wheelchair occupants have no business here after 4:30 PM.
