I'm even using the right channels this time around! Fuck this one pisses me off. They claim to have fixed this one already in some patch except not really and far as I can tell from scrolling through dead steam forum threads and reddit posts from months ago.. nobody can work around this one without console commands, and even when I tried using console commands there's another bug where the quest won't progress right and an encounter doesn't trigger so you're stuck in space without being able to fast travel away so ideally you need to use another console command to reenable fast travel and- this is about the point where I give up trying to work around a bullshit problem and wish bethesda had more time to ship a functional game that's not broken in such serious ways where it makes the MAIN QUEST uncompletable to people, and the fun part is there's literally no way to know at which stage of the quest this bug triggers without doing some serious digging as one of the devs. It could trigger at the start, so if you're a player who took this one but left to do other things, like a normal person does in these kinds of games and you find out the quest softlocks your game dozens of hours later? you're not gonna restore a save and lose that much progress. I've tried doing this quest two or three times now and all of them ended in that softlock, so I'm not sure if my character is completely screwed. I found out the ship doors being inaccessible bug was not what was causing the quest flag not to update, it just doesn't update because fuck you that's why (sorry I'm mad). They partially fixed the ship doors being inaccessible thing by shipping the latest patch but this new character I have is still fucked because she can never complete the main quest due to the dialogue softlock. I'm still fighting trying to enjoy my time with Starfield but shit like this is why I can't recommend it to anyone. they might just stumble into a game ending bug like this they can't get past, especially if they're a console player.
