I had a dream last night that I straightened my hair 😰 I used to straighten it everyday because a white trans masc passing guide had said curly hair was feminine and I was insecure and dysphoric enough to believe it
I realize a lot of the stuff, besides just reinforcing gender norms, also just wasn't true for non-white trans mascs
Masculinity is so dependent on culture like the fact I have my ears pierced is considered feminine by almost no black people I know (the exception being some much older black guys) and I talk about this a lot but just holding myself up to white standards of masculinity was so stifling cause like white guys think it's gay if you use conditioner
Oh back to the beginning of my post I haven't straightened my hair in years do it was weird to have that dream lol
