I'm just rabbitholing about why the keys on a hurdy gurdy are different sizes - and not really finding any concrete evidence on cursory googling.

My current working theory is that you're twitching pegs that are further apart, and if the keys were all the same size, you'd have holes, which would mean you couldn't glide your fingers down them.

Someone tell me I'm right - or correct me, please?
