A large 13-CD1 boxset of Konami Famicom music, encompassing almost their entire first-party output for the system, comes out in Japan this week. It unfortunately, understandably leaves out their work on licensed titles for the system like the linked Tiny Toons game, Bucky O'Hare, Zen: Intergalactic Ninja, and the TMNT games.2

It also leaves out Battle Choice, a title in the news this weekend for having a sample cart show up and sell at auction for 2.4M JPY ($16,000 USD). Interestingly, the soundtrack for this game was previously released -- we had the music for this game before any screenshots ever appeared online! It was on Volume 3 of EGG Music's Konami Famicom Chronicle released in 2015, along with some notes from the anonymous composer.3 HG101 shared a translation of those notes here, along with copies of the auction's photos showing the game running.

  1. You get a 14th disc featuring the soundtrack for the GB version of Parodius da! if you pre-order direct from Konami.

  2. Konami and Nickelodeon/Viacom are releasing the TMNT soundtracks through LRG, who have been trickling out CD/LP/cassette pre-orders one title per month for the last few months.

  3. VGMPF makes an educated guess this is Atsushi Fujio, who is given special thanks in the credits of the EGG Music disc.
