Finally upgraded to a version of LibreOffice that has Light/Dark Mode options!1 This is mostly great, but I wanted one of the fancier splashes for the menu bar to be pretty, and... none of them were made for Dark Mode and are thus blinding. I tried looking into how to install custom ones but the answers variably point at menu options I don't have2 or github pages that start with "just run the command $ bash theme-creator.sh". Pejorative "just".
I could stick to default offblack but... I really like that jaunty blue-green gradient, I just need it to be a little darker....
[5 MIN LATER] Oh wait if I change the menu bar icons the blinding contrast problems go away. Jaunty blue-green gradient is a go and my eyes are happy about it!
Heck yeah. I'd still take a darker splash if I could figure it out (largely for eyeball comfort) but this is hitting me right in the aesthetic very nicely. I feel so bold, so out there to have a header that isn't greyscale.
Ok I found the downside of upgrading: "all those alt-numpad keybinds are going totally unused, we should reassign them to a bunch of menus!" Are my special characters a joke to you?? Tools β Customize β Keyboard to rip these weeds out, rrr....
