just wanted to say, it has popped out a few times now in mc+ that the mafia had its origin in meteor city. that's actually not true. the mafia has worked with meteor city in the past because people from meteor city have no traceable records, but they are not from meteor city themselves.
that's important because at the end of the arc the complication is that the mafia has to give up on retaliating against the troupe because meteor city would then retaliate against the mafia themselves, and that would mean stopping at nothing to murder every mafia associate responsible for the death of a troupe member.
the 2011 anime does not explain this as the manga does, and kinda just glosses over it, but it's chapter 102 if you wanna check.

i checked and the anime does indeed say "many members of the mafia" come from Meteor City, not the Mafia organization itself. no worries about coming across as annoying, i'd rather be getting this stuff right than not.
I don't think it makes Melody's guess as to why the mafia would call off the bounty make less sense my way, though. I've always understood incorrectly that they were BOTH from meteor city, it felt natural that it was because of their shared roots, not despite them, that the Mafia would want to sue for peace.
It also was always a guess on Melody's part anyway, not the actual truth of the situation, so it never occurred to me to be suspicious of how much sense it made
