#Media Club Plus
my brain hadn’t booted up all the way this morning and so I tried to kickstart it by putting the podcast in it. Sylvi said “I love her” of a background character in Hunter x Hunter, and suddenly my brain went:
- Keith as THE HELLTAKER
- Sylvi as MODEUS
- Dre as ZDRADA
- Jack as MICHAEL
but man I wish they translated "Nen", "Ren", "Ten", "Zetsu", and "Hatsu" (as well as the various other Nen-related words) in Hunter x Hunter. I'm halfway through Season 3 and I still barely remember what any of them mean, because they're essentially arbitrary symbols to me.
In the original context the audience has an easy cue as to their meaning, because they're just words in Japanese! Nothing seems to be improved by just borrowing the original Japanese words used - you could pick a consistent mapping of English words that capture a similar vibe, and stick to those. I don't speak any Japanese, so I don't have any suggestions as to how they should be translated, but I do feel that they could be

Listening to Jack describe watching Goto's coin tricks in a fugue state while moving on the new Media Club Plus and this is all i can imagine
