Dragon Ball is tough because it's so consistent. The Pilaf saga and most of the Red Ribbon stuff is slightly below average imo. The first tournament arc is great but the training stuff to get to it is a little slow. All 5 final arcs are basically unimpeachable imo (Commander Red, Fortuneteller Baba, Tien Shinhan, King Piccolo, Piccolo jr). If I had to pick a favorite... it's King Piccolo. But special shout out to the Commander Red stuff for being the most Dragon Ball-y.

Dragon Ball z is easy. Everything from Raditz through Cell is amazing, but each one is better than the last. I'm going to indulge in a practice I normally wouldn't which is count everything from Future Trunk through Cell Games as "the Android Saga" and make it my #1. Frieza is overall a better villain than Cell but as a 10 year old I was literally obsessed with cell era Gohan so you can see why it has to be this way

This was perfect for me - as somebody who has never watched Dragonball of any kind Jack was like the audience-insert member of the show. I have heard so many references to Dragonball over the years and understood basically none of it and now I understand very slightly more. Although honestly that hasn't made my mental picture of it any less weird.
