A stray beep! from the nearby desk cause Emilynn's ears to perk up. "Oh! One moment!" she said as she hopped off the side of the bed.
"No worries!" Amanda said as she paused the movie. "I can't believe there's still three more of these. I'll get another popcorn bag started!"
Emilynn's fingers trembled as she picked up the device, which had finally shown a single solitary sign of life after having been plugged in for what had seemed like weeks. But, there it was: in the place where an empty battery would normally be, an 'unlock' prompt.
Her phone was alive again.
As she tapped her password with slender fingers, she wondered with mounting dread just how big the number next to the email app would be. Or, worse, the text notifications. Or the missed calls, for that matter. Or...
She almost dropped the phone as she saw the colorful icon in the corner and the realization hit.
"I missed so many dailies!!"
