#Pesach Shabbat Chol haMoed

Today we have a very special episode: Pesach is this week, so instead of more Leviticus we jump back to Exodus, specifically the episode where Moses sees G-d, crafts the second set of the tablets, and receives several mitzvah regarding the holidays and other things. We revisited the question of what it means to see G-d and their relationship with Moses and Israel writ large and their ongoing messy romance. Not too much new, but good conversation.

We also read the haftarah, which is the episode of Ezekiel and the dry bones, and discussed why it was the accompaniment to this week's portion, as well as how you can't stop us from complaining even in death.

Anyways, on to the meat of this week: Pesach is when we read the Song of Songs.
If you're unfamiliar, it's a love poem between two lovers that freely interchanges between the masculine and feminine viewpoint characters; obvious gender implications that can be drawn aside, it's also notable for the efforts of the sages (in our case, Rashi) to allegorize it.

So here's Rashi on laying between a woman's breasts. "even though i betrayed [g-d], he said he would dwell there" is a kind of yuri rashi on breasts Fun fact, Moses and Aaron are often compared to breasts moshe and aharon breasting boobily I'm still fanning myself at "gleaming like a pomegranate split open", ngl. Apparently the tower is about being straight necked and the tower being described being an architectural beauty worthy of study and adoration. The breasts need no further explanation. cute girl stuff yeah. the nut grove Rashi coming out in support of tummy tuesday tummy tuesday moments Rashi: I can't explain how this could be appealing
All of us, collectively: really. how many hundreds of years have we been saying that big noses are hot. rashi big nose bad take And that was the Song of Songs! Fun time.
