So several partners and metamours over this year have gotten in to Neon Genesis Evangelion, some relatively recently, which was a highly formative work for us in many ways (we watched it in our teen years on VHS 2 episodes at a time, and saw E of E through IRC downloads we put on an old Zip disc).
Like many a tran we do rather deeply feel Shinji is a total egg and this is going to be a post about that. However, this is a twist on that particular fan theory, as it also goes in to how the various characters are reflections of a sort of journey Shinji would seek to make in her transition (and Anno's friend Carl Jung may just stop by to make a visit).
Okay, so I really like this, I'll just say essay, and i fully support analysis and head canons and all that jazz. With that said, I disagree with this.
Now I'm a cishet man which likely shapes my perception on the trails of Shinji "Walking Saddness" Ikari. Additionally it has been over a year since I watch the series in full, although I do have it all saved in my phone for some unknown reason, so I might have a fuzzy memory on a few things, but these are a few thoughts I have.
