#Texas was basically a tax haven for slavery

Learning about the history of Texas right up to it becoming it's own nation and then German immigration to both Texas and Mexico.

It's kinda fucked up a good portion of modern Texans hate Mexico cuz "oh no evil immigrants are gonna strain the economy or something"

Cuz Mexico was really chill with Texas in the past. They joined Texas with what's now Coahuila but offered the option of becoming it's own state "as soon as it feels capable of doing so."

Going more towards the Texan Revolution you can kinda see some cracks.

Santa Anna fucked up the government and absolutely no one liked it. I think Texas was one of 5 revolutions as a result of wanting to centralize the fuck out of everything.

Of course the kicker here is Mexico becoming increasingly averse to the idea of slavery, outright banning it in 1830. Settlers would simply bring slaves as indentured servants "for life".

The Texan Revolution started 6 years later by people who had owned slaves their entire lives. Hell, Stephen F. Austin was vocally afraid after the Haitian Revolution of 1831. I'll spare you the quote but picture a white supremacist twitter user but worried things they will never see.

Oh and the Texas Rangers absolutely lynched people and captured slaves.
