Barbaric and merciless, Complot! have mastered the war metal sound. R.I.P. is a straightforward album, just a relentless assault of bestial metal, but it manages to avoid sounding repetitive or tedious. Mount bayonets!

Into Subversion - Into Subversion

Pulverizing death doom with some ominous atmospheric sections, Into Subversion has laid down some impressive tracks here. There are only three songs on this E.P., but it clocks in at almost 30 minutes. I can’t wait to hear a full length from this project.

Moulin Banal - Sainte-Paix

Black metal with melodic elements and influences from Québécois folk, Sainte-Paix is a concept album that examines the “influence of Catholicism and the Jesuits of New France up to the era of modern Quebec.” Moulin Banal's style and lyrical content may not appeal to some black metal fans, but that’s their loss. Check it out.

Just realized that it's August and I haven't added a single thing to my "games I've completed and enjoyed" list.

Toem and Bramble were great as were the DLCs for Alan Wake II and Ghost of Tsushima, I've nearly finished Jedi Survivor, Norco was enjoyable until I got progression locked, System Shock was too until it became tedious, and replaying TLOU2 with the remaster was as impactful as it was on my first go.

But actual new, full on releases from this year? Nothing.
