hi im jasper!
i'm disabled! i had to quit my job because i've been in a lot more pain every day! i'm living off of what i managed to save while i was working, though i had to spend most of it on a mode of transportation, and if my disability hearing in july doesn't go through i'm just fucked! they've turned down three applications already. i have a really small support net and it's getting smaller.
i'm also an artist. i draw, and make comics and ceramics

please donate to my ko-fi / paypal.me / venmo @ jasper-belknap, or buy me things i need off my throne wishlist

sometime i'll add on to this with a commissions page maybe

Hey, the things that live in your head rent free. Make them pay rent.

  • If it's characters and/or OCs, talk to people about them and why you enjoy them.
  • If it's a scene in a show or an anime, talk about why you love it so much.
  • If it's a particular moment from a content creator, explain the context and share the clip and why it's so great.
  • If it's a moment in human history, explain why it resonates with you so much.

Do Not care if people have heard it before. It's always great to be talking about the things you love ESPECIALLY if they live in your head rent-free, because that means you didn't just love it transiently, it means it's something that you love and has stuck with you for a while.

Babylonian school began in early puberty, but what is really remarkable is the reason we know this. A clay tablet containing a basic school exercise of the kind that students would be given early in their education was found with a set of teeth marks in its upper right corner. The student, whoever this was, must have tried to take a bite of the tablet after finishing the exercise. We can only speculate as to why. Since the students at this level were still learning how to write, which in cuneiform is done by pressing a reed stylus into wet clay, this student must have been thinking about the imprints that solids leave on surfaces, and perhaps it was only natural to experiment by biting it. Or the student may have been thinking about death. According to Babylonian belief, shades in the underworld were condemned to "eat dust and live on clay." Perhaps our unnamed student was nagged by fears of the afterlife, and thought to test how bad it would be. Either way, the tablet has proved helpful to modern scholars. Based on the shape and size of the bite marks, philologists were able to determine the age of the student: he or she had reached early pubescence, and this gives us a clue as to when Old Babylonian schoolchildren began their studies
