i'm kinda looking for a text to speech tool that is:

  • locally run
  • not machine learning
  • has speech that is, at the very least, understandable
  • runs on linux

i am not looking for:

  • something that tries really hard to sound human
  • a Cloud Service

basically Amazon Polly Standard Text-To-Speech but local. until then i'm stuck considering Polly
