I know it might be a bit in bad taste considering this site's imminent closure, but... anyone have any suggestions for an easy to use blog management software that isn't Wordpress? I mean, that's fine, but it can be a bit resource intensive (I get free hosting from a friend and don't want to abuse their generosity) and the CEO of Automattic is a maniac so I don't quite trust the company at all.

My brain is whispering in my ear saying "What if you were a girl though?"

Brain o' buddy o' pal, friendo, my man, we are too unemployed and broke to be worrying about gender right now.

So I'll probably try to make a longer post about this before the shutdown, but I wanted to get this out there now.

I hadn't been on here for very long before the announcement, and mostly came around to follow a couple people who weren't on the network that I'm active on. Before I was here though, I put a lot of volunteer hours into another Network, known as the Fediverse, commonly referred to as Mastodon. (Mastodon being a popular interface)

If anyone here is interested, Fediverse instances (Mastodon or otherwise) offer a wide variety of tools for posting whatever you were sharing here, even if they lack the level of formatting options you have here. (I've never seen images inside of posts, only after, but it might be possible?)

It's also a nonprofit, run by the community, with individual servers being run independently by community members, thus having different themes, software, and moderation policies. All the servers can connect to each other, so people can see whatever you post and comment regardless of whatever server they're on. If you were posting something on here, there is an absolute certainty that it is the exact kind of thing that one of the couple thousand servers was made to host. For example, I'm on one with the URL "Yiff.Life", which specializes in queer furry shitposting, and allows hardcore erotica. I also have a professional account on a different one that keeps NSFW material off the main timeline and caters towards people who work in the computer industry.

I don't know that y'all will find quite the community you had here there, but it's definitely a good option if you're looking for somewhere to move right now. As a bonus, you can move your account between servers at any time, meaning if a server is shutting down, or you just want a different administration, you can just move your account.

Anyway, if y'all are interested, there are a list of instances using the Mastodon interface at...
https://JoinMastodon.org/servers

There are lots of people moving there from here, and people from here who are already established there, so you'll probably be able to find each other. Also, tell me when you move there, and I'll do what I can to help you: we are actively trying to bringing as many users from CoHost as we can before the end of the month, and I am always up to helping new people get on. I would especially like to help someone from here set up a server dedicated to CoHost users, so y'all can be in your own space and try and get some of your formatting options back!

Hope to see y'all there!
