Mystical Death - Carnation

I’m not exactly sure why, but I have the suspicion that Mystical Death’s music is AI generated with human vocals tracked on. I hope that’s not the case, because there’s some interesting stuff going on here. The five songs on Carnation blend osdm, symphonic prog, and jazzy, tech death. Honestly, this release isn’t for everyone. Some elements of the album, like the clean vocals and jangly synths, I really couldn’t get into. Overall though, I enjoyed what Mystical Death has done here and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they’re a real band. If you’re looking for some progressive and eclectic metal, give this a listen.

Plinian - Plinian

Combining sludge and noise rock, Plinian are killing it with their debut EP. The four tracks on Plinian are devastatingly heavy and abrasive. I’m looking forward to hearing a full length album from these guys.

now that cohost is dying can we finally admit that staff were fucking morons and they are entirely to blame for this site shutting down because they would basically plug their ears whenever anyone would give reasonable criticisms of this site and how it operates because they were so utterly convinced they were right and their 'anti-numbers message' was the right path forward even though there is a fuckin reason why platforms like cohost don't exist on the internet anymore (because they are not sustainable - if you're an artist or whatever, why would you join a site that has no way for you to properly see how many views your work gets, or how many people share it, or how many people like it?)

acting edgy and uwu cutesy 'we dont wike how big bussiness is run!' while trying to run a site that has to pay expensive hosting fees is like...how to destroy your website 101 and none of the staff seemed to grasp that concept.

i'm having a good time with Space Marine 2 so far, but it's just filled little annoying affordances to a co-op mode i will never play. and going from being able to carry 4 weapons to only having 2 feels like a huge step backwards, especially with how fun some of the non-bolter weapons in are.

(the bolters are decent, but ugh i don't know why they have so many slight variations)

the original was an all time 7/10 game for me, and right now this one is on track to just be a regular 7/10.
