EA and Microsoft are leading the pack in layoffs right now. EA has even said they are trying to get generative AI into the studios as quickly as possible.
Whatever they come up with for The Sims 5 you just know is going to be a DLC shitfest because that's how they roll. And whatever DLC they come up with will be half-AI, half roomful of coffee-fuelled interns not being given adequate time to fix all the AI's mistakes.
Can we just agree not to interact with whatever Project Rene ends up being? Can we just leave it to flounder for a couple months before the inevitable takeover by Disney whereupon they close The Sims Studio? The Sims is like Doom, it had its finest hour 20 years ago and now it needs to die.
In the meantime, stop paying EA for The Sims. Just like, stop. If you were going to buy (a license to) a TS4 DLC pack, just get it from anadius. If you were going to start playing TS4, just get it from Fitgirl. Get The Sims 3 from her too. Get TS2 from Elamigos. Get TS1 from MyAbandonware. Speedrun EA's demise.
