#The Global Cohost Feed

honestly something i'm kinda sad about is that i never bought an eggbug plush, sadly i didn't have the money to buy one and i didn't really think to ask my parents to buy one, maybe if i get the time to i'll make my own to remember the site by as well as make a little shrine or something on my site to commemorate cohost

i started these rambling thought posts because i couldn't sleep and needed to post my thoughts on whatever was rotating in my mind, it's kinda fun having a little place to put these sorta things without much mind to if anyone will see it, but it didn't matter i was posting it for myself and no one else, that said i'll still use this site till i can't, no sense in not but it'll feel rather bittersweet tbh

this site was good, real good, maybe even the best, it's gonna suck to see it go

i kinda wish i could turn back time, pause it to experience a moment more, or even just have things stay the same, but i know if i did any of those things would not have the same meaning, but i'm sure that with the love this site has had, there will be something to take its place to carry the torch, because this site has shown me that people yearn for how the internet was, people want places to be goofy, to post nuance thoughts, post sexy prons etc.

how long will it be for something to take cohost's place? no idea, question is if i'd want to be there for it. i've basically considered cohost and tumblr to be my last social medias, once those sites go i'm probably gonna only really be found by chance on my website or on discord, mostly because i've grown tired of moving from platform to platform, i want a metaphorical home on the internet, i've always thought that, twitter has taught me that social medias are not the place to make a home on the internet, that's like making a home on sand, you want it on rock

anyway, gonna miss this site, at least i'll be here to see it end better than crabber did

well it sucks ass that cohost is going down the tubes and I don't envy their choice to shut it down but better to stick to your guns and bow out because you can't do it without shaking a devil's hand and have the legacy of trying anyway.

anyway if you want to keep following me, I don't really Post-post, but we reblog a lot of stuff at voxvalentine.tumblr.com and we really want to just throw one more promo to our podcast The Coffin Club, https://thecoffin.club , because unfortunately this site was going to sort of be the...I dunno, litmus filter for people to check out our show? And by our I mean me, Grint, Lav, Sophie and Bea. It's our show, it's a work we all contribute to. We don't want to be famous, just to filter and select for listeners who are likely to Get It (queer, trans, plural, therian, etc. without any of it just being token/compulsorily representative in the vein of "we're a queer podcast playing 5e and everyone is so soft and supportive and comfy, nobody has to fight!" absolute total bullshit. I want to tell stories about freaks making bad choices and causing problems, weird stories that hang together and fucking say something, and the players are bought in on that). Unfortunately this site was first and foremost for, like, our show's ideal self promotion on account of the self-selection of this site. And, well, I don't want to just shove it down my friends' throats constantly and this at least provided a less stressful more decentralized place that at least had an audience and half functional tags.

Probably gonna miss this place. Shame but we get it.

Hi. What you're viewing now is a relic, in the hopefully distant future. Here stood a monument of what was good about the internet. It didn't die because of mismanagement. It didn't die because its users couldn't afford it. It died because the systems that ran it cost too much to maintain. That's not the fault of any of the users or the staff. That's the fault of Capitalism.

This was a good place, that refused to sell out, even in its last seconds. It resisted the Call of Profit, and we all rejoiced. It was a true, and beautiful little slice of the world. It was everything social media should have been. In a better world, it would still be here. Not without flaws, but only because the hands that shaped it were mortal.

But we still have Eggbug.

Please, carry forward the lessons learned here. The mistakes made. Please carry forward the understanding that all things will crumble before you're ready - unless you're tearing them down yourself, and sometimes even then - and prepare. Learn. Adapt. Grow. Be kind.

Carry Eggbug with you, and you'll always have a friend. Carry Eggbug to the far corners of the digital world. Put them on your neocities, your discords, your forums, your chats, your laptop backs, your distant, strange little places.

Eggbug is all that we have left, aside from our memories, once those servers close.

You, in the far future, reading this back on some archive - remember well the lessons of Eggbug.

Be kind. Try your best. Rally to those you love and keep them close.

Fuck Computers. Fuck Software. Fuck Capitalism.

Love Eggbug.

I'm on Bluesky, Discord, Tumblr - all the same, unique name. Seven letters. You know the seven, if you want to find me. I'll be here. I'll always be here, with Eggbug.

Balketh, out.
