The episode opens on Homer slacking off at the Springfield nuclear reactor, in typical fashion. He begins to fantasize about taking a relaxing bath in a hot tub and eating entire boxes of donuts. Upon waking up from his daydream, it turns out he has inadvertently acted on those desires by jumping into the reactor coolant tank and eating all of the control rods. This causes a total meltdown of the reactor, which goes completely unnoticed by Homer as he calmly leaves and drives home.
Upon arriving back home, Homer greets his family by screaming "D'oh!" to each one of them, in typical fashion. Once he finishes, he relaxes on the couch to watch some TV while drinking a beer. Suddenly, he begins to feel strange, and in a burst of blinding pain, his body rends itself in half as a full clone of himself is created. SIMPSON SYNOPSIS FUN FACT! Homer's scream during this scene is widely renowned for sending over 30 viewers to the hospital, being deemed the world's first cognitohazard by the World Health Organization!
Over the next 2 minutes, Homer rapidly mitoses, in typical fashion. While the clones are content with sitting in front of the TV while drinking a beer, chaos begins its reign when the fridge runs out of beer. The clone Homers (Clomers) begin descending on Moe's Tavern, Krusty Burger, and every donut shop in a 200 mile radius of Springfield. The added Homer fuel contributes to even more mitosis, causing a national state of emergency as Homer spreads more quickly than anyone could ever imagine.
In the final hours of Homageddon, the human race is likely about to be snuffed out by overcrowding caused by all the Clomers alone, not to mention their ravenous demands for beer and doughnuts, in typical fashion. All hope appears to be lost, and as the United Nations is about to announce their formal surrender, an explosion is heard on the horizon, and all goes black. The episode ends with a smash cut to the Springfield power plant, which exploded in such a spectacular fashion that it eliminated everyone on Earth, including the Clomers. Problem solved!
