i always loved this guild wars 2 loading screen so much

it was for the "heart of the mists" hangout lobby area for instanced pvp.

i dont know, its just..has this particular kind of inscrutability combined with a sense of awe inspiring scale. it struck me pretty quickly. the terrain beyond the wall looks so unusual and forlorn, which begs questions about what the wall is for.

lorewise i dont know if its supposed to be depicting a part of the Mists, which is supposed to be dreamlike and realitybending and stuff, or if its just a really fucked up part of Ascalon's old walls. i kind of just interpret it as some inscrutable separate thing from both of those.

and its nostalgic, when i first played in 2012/2013 i only played pvp because I convinced myself mmorpg pve was never good, so I saw this a fair amount. i loved just walking around that lobby area, jumping up little parts, etc, it felt so cozy for me.

guess i should pose this question now given it's probably the only site where this kind of knowledge is readily available:

what's the 'proper' way to make an actual animated gif, without using some outside website?
