playing with some fancy new brushes i picked up. if you remember this cat: sorry
if its any consolation i've been thinking about revisiting SITA but far in the future while Paradise Lost is happening in the background

I've been reading Special Topics In Calamity Physics by Marisha Pessl on and off lately.
It is...undoubtedly well-written. And the prose is definitely charming. But I'm about halfway through and it felt like it took about that length to actually get started. I typically don't really mind slow starts that much, but there's a time and place for it, and I'm not really sure if a Murder Mystery is the best place for it
To be fair to it, it definitely reads like it's supposed to be a coming-of-age novel first and foremost. It could just be that I might just dislike coming-of-age books, or maybe haven't found one I especially like or has stuck with me
Point is. I wish this book didn't feel like a slog. But, this is the author's debut so 🤷
okay yeah i've decided i'm just going to. Drop it.
Sorry miss pessl i'm sure your later work holds up and i will reread Night Film but i really do not care about these high schoolers. Lots of people really liked it in 2006 but i guess i'm just really not its target audience...

back when cartoon network had flash games there was this one Class of 3000-themed song maker that let you put together a bunch of pre-made music loops while animated gifs of the main characters played their respective instruments. It was one of my favorite things on the site. I would always have one character lead in, followed by two others and have an ensemble play the whole thing before i end it with the single player from the first part of the track end it with the same riff.
I bring this up because I am about 65% sure I employ the exact same song structure at 24 years old
