I think I'm enjoying Itagaki Paru's new work "Sanda" the way it is because much unlike Beastars there's no emotional pretense and it's all stupid as hell from the jump. You can't disappoint me if it's already well aware of its trashiness
Obviously Paru excels at drawing animals, but her art style when it comes to humans has really grown into something expressive and recognizable (you could see it in Bota Bota, too; a miniseries which is somehow less Out There than her current serial. Check it out it you want something weird, but warning for lots and lots of blood as the cover implies).
Although the post-school battle arc was easily my least favorite part of Beastars, the way she drew action sequences was really special. Itagaki has a really great understanding of motion in her art that really translates well to action shounen.
I might enjoy the story itself more if I actually were able to read it properly; currently the only way to catch up is via a discord server with page-by-page live translation, un-typeset, by like 5 people maximum. Not to diminish their hard work of course, no way something like a kid who can turn into santa claus action hero would get licensed in English
I don't recommend it at all, but it's a really fun manga for me to turn off my brain and not think too hard about
Also: Yagiuda. I like his lil ugly ass
