i don't think i'll post about this one, but: OHHHH BABY i missed wathcing a kyoani show so much because it feels SO GOOD to watch a show that's just. good. at everything it does. literally everything it tries to do, it pulls off perfectly.
two things that stand out the most on this one, though. the first is the compositing; light is used for incredible effect in so many scenes, possessing a voluminosity and physicality to it that consistently adds so much to the mood (especially when combined with depth of field effects). and the second is the 3d camerawork that uses 2d background elements. makes a lot of shots more interesting to look at, by enabling camera moves you don't see often in anime... and it's obviously the perfect thing for the archery scenes!
honestly, tsurune isn't even the kind of story i like thaaaat much, but everything about it does such a good job of selling me on the characters and what they're thinking and feeling that i can get into it anyway. that's just the kinda thing that the good folks at kyoani do i guess.
