Super Saiyan Kefla

  • from Dragon Ball Super
  • by Bandai Spirits

and if you click through to Instagram at the end, you'll get a One Day One Shot recap so far

Kefla was one of the many new characters introduced in Dragon Ball Super - a custom between the two Universe 6 Saiyans; Kale and Caulifla. An alternate universe analog for Broly, combined (no pun intended) - she was a fan favoritewith the power of a Fusion, and definitely one of mine. Great, simple design.

The figure is excellent too. But we'll talk about that another time, because she deserves a full gallery.
Even just for her accessories alone.

Now, on the topic of One Day One Shot:
We'll usually post to this format when we're away on vacation - but this time we are still here at home.
The problem was time.
It's the Holidays - and between work and preparations, we're just too busy.

Also; a lot of these are figures that I'm usually intimidated to take pictures of. Take Scorpion for example - he comes with a ton of accessories. And if I was doing a full gallery, I would want to come up with poses and effects parts and a funny picture or two. That's a lot of time planning.

And normally, I love to do that. But when time is scarce, it becomes a little stressful. So this takes a little burden off of me, and let's be show off some toys I typically have to set aside time for.

Gashadokuro
8" Plush Guts Dunny

  • by Kidrobot

One Day One Shot

His name is written with the onomatopoeia for rattling bones, he's out for revenge, and now he's encased in a cute little bunny shell.

One of my favorite pickups of the last 5 years. This 8 inch tall Dunny makes an incredible centerpiece to an eclectic collection - which mine just happens to be!

Calling it a sofubi is a misnomer - the outside shell is hard gradient tinted plastic. Inside, the Dunny's skeleton and guts are plush. Covered in gorgeous stitch work, with macabre details like the X eyes and broken heart.

The final result is a beautiful figure that catches the attention of everyone that sees it. It's a stunning toy.

The Gashadokuro- or "Starving Skeleton" - is my favorite of the traditional Japanese Yokai. Even separated from the mythology, what's not to love about a giant skeleton?

Figma - The Hunter
  - from Bloodborne
  - by Good Smile Company

One Day One Shot

The main character from one of the greatest videogames of all time - or, at least, the version of him that we see on the cover art.

Bloodborne is a Gothic horror fantasy (and sci-fi?) game for the Playstation 4. And it was first exposure to From Software - most recently known for their monumental Elden Ring. And it certainly wasn't my last.

I'm not a huge video game player, but I fell in love with these games. It all clicked for me - The design work, the intricate attention to visual detail that makes the story feel lush and lived in, and the mash-up horror fantasy world.

This toy perfectly captures that feeling. From the layered detailing across the character's vest to the muted earth tones and textures that come across in the paint. Not to mention the exceptionally macabre weapons. It's an incredible figure - and even more impressive that it's from a line I typically find lackluster.

Age of Apocalypse Cyclops

  • from Marvel Legends
  • by Hasbro

One Day One Shot

After a quick day off, we're back. And One Day One Shot December continues.

Today's figure was a clearance find from a few months back - Marvel Legends Cyclops, from the Age of Apocalypse line.

A cyclops from an alternate reality that dares to ask "what if cyclops drank redbulls and punched holes in his walls"

I'm not a huge Marvel Legends collector, but I couldn't pass this one up. The price was a huge factor, but also love this one-off story redesigns. And I have a huge soft spot for Age of Apocalypse.

Great sculpt, especially on the hair and the asymmetrical armor. Incredible colors on this (mostly unpainted) plastic. I love the scuffing and bronze tarnish effect they got on the gold armor.
