S.H. Figuarts Dodoria

Playing catch-up with Insta - so it really is One Day Two Shots on here!

So, who was holding those Ginyu Frogs from yesterday? None other but SH Figuarts Dodoria!

I've shown this figure a few times now,  and the Instagram algorithm seems to hate it for some reason. Maybe it's those spikes, or his menacing purple lips.

But he's a great figure. Big, colorful, and incredibly well engineered (and well integrated) articulation.

I'd love to see more oversized monster Figuarts from the Dragon Ball line. Actually, one of my dream releases would be Dodoria's partner in space crime - monster form Zarbon.

SH Figuarts - Recoome

One Day One Shot

And the Ginyu frog from yesterday? He came with none other than Recoome - the burly redheaded member of the Ginyu Tokusentai.

I have long held the opinion that the oversized figures are usually the best in the Dragon Ball Figuarts line. And Recoome is the gold standard.

Perfect, expressive articulation. Excellent sculpt and proportions. And a ton of accessories. This really is one of the best figures in the entire Figuarts catalogue.

It's a very substantial toy. A hefty sculpt with solid construction. And it really captures that goofy menacing presence of the character.

The Ginyu frog was just icing on the cake.

SH Figuarts - Ginyu Frog

One Day One Shot

Speaking of that Ginyu Frog ~
The original Irwin Toys release of Namek Saga Bulma came with a Ginyu frog accessory - and one of my biggest laments over the new Figuarts release was: No Ginyu frog!

But worry not! Premium Bandai included their own extra-floppy Ginyu frog with SH Figuarts Recoome!

The new frog is on the left, the old Irwin version is on the right. And you know, call me crazy... but I think I like the original Irwin version better. It's big, bright, and it even has articulation! That new one is no slouch though.

And hey, two Ginyu frogs!
Can't complain about that.

Bulma - Journey to Planet Namek

One Day One Shot

Continuing the black and yellow trend from yesterday, we have another throwback figure.

This version of Bulma was released in 2021 as a Premium Bandai exclusive. Based on her appearance during the Namek and Freeza storylines in Dragon Ball Z - this is the version of Bulma most Americans will remember from the old Irwin Toys line.

And something about this figure - whether it be the sculpting or the proportions or even the specific shade of yellow that they use - really evokes that old toy.

And she comes packed with accessories. A backpack, safari hat, waist pouch (seen here) and a Namek Dragon Ball. But no Ginyu Frog, unfortunately. So I guess the old Irwin Toys figure has the advantage.
