With her fingers running through his hair, Eichi could feel how his heart stuttered in his chest, an endless yearning settling over the dull fog of pain.
"You needn't come visit me so often. I know you must have other things to do other than fret over me," He couldn't bear the look in her eyes, instead grabbing her wrist ever so gently and pulling her hand down, pressing her hand against his cheek—he could never stop himself from basking in the endless warmth she gave.
It was nice to have her here to chase away the permanent cold that hospitals always seemed to carry—or perhaps it was loneliness?
"Yeah, well, I know..." Did she think he was scolding her? Vivian averted her eyes and looked away, her fingers twitching as if she wanted to pull her hand away. Eichi only turned his head, pressing his lips against her palm in an effort to soothe her.
"I'm not saying I don't want your company," He hummed against her skin, letting his eyes flutter closed, "But surely, you must be busy?"
Even if she didn't answer, Eichi was fine with that, more than content to selfishly have her by his side to warm him up.
