Winding down now. Got one more on the docket for tomorrow night, then i'll rest.
This project has been a real pleasure to share. It was a funny feeling having my posts account for about 60% of the #lego tag, but i guess i was just real busy.
I haven't had time to write up a name and bio for this character yet. I think they're an engineer, maybe a mechanic, or a backtrader or smuggler helping racers build their own rigs. Like if your HRT doc was a pirate greasemonkey running their soul on linux.
The coral and blue is a fun colour scheme. I tend to go overboard with accent colours a lot because i end up not having enough of the primary colour, but this time it worked out well.
And with a hint of sand blue to tie it all together.
Now that the new post editor is unlocked, i can show off the format i was planning and hoping to use for more of these.
I used to do something like this on my old Warhammer blog, and continued it a bit on tumblr. I think later down the line i'll spin up a proper html version of this for my new neocities site.
That crystal piece for the tail is a fun one. It's actually much thinner than it looks, using refractive trickery to make it look like it has volume when it's actually just a flat shell zigzagging around. I was a bit put out after seeing it in the product images, but i won't deny it's a smart manufacturing optimization.
Til next time.
