i was just thinking about how i could kind of see this place sticking around basically forever, almost like furaffinity but in an even messier sort of way financially, where there's always one more emergency bake sale to save the school at the end of the world. i'm about 80% sure they could have pulled it off. and i still half expect this to happen anyway. too bad staff seem highly allergic to money. furaffinity isn't lucrative (if dragoneer's death shows anything) but they definitely make enough to cover site maintenance on banner ads alone. big long lived mastodon servers pull down tens of thousands on patreon and the like. surely something could be done.

july was absolute murder, alongside my usual pile of medical issues, and i spent most of august recovering from it. recently, i also got a fat bill dropped on my head due to an insurance hiccup, so it's been an arduous couple of weeks getting that sorted out on top of everything else.

i am still plugging away at art. this year i've been putting a lot of work into Standard Candles, and fleshing out the core idea of a multiversal, galactic-scale civilization bridging everything from high fantasy to hard scifi and beyond - how such wildly different worlds can coexist as an interconnected whole, all the wonder and weirdness that entails, how you can use these conceptual tools for your own stories, and maybe even weave Known Space into your own worlds. perhaps you'll enjoy. hope to see you there.
