figured i might as well keep up the streak i got going on with the lore. now that i have all the prerequisites for these three already covered, its time to introduce more characters.
these fellas are named twice, noize, and hide (left to right.) twice and noize are both elites in the church, but hide is their childhood friend and he gets tugged along with their elite business, so hes practically a third, unofficial elite.
twice and noize are brothers, twice being youngest by 2 years. "twice" and "noize" are stage names of sorts, and their real names are kiri (twice) and rokuro (noize.) "hide" is a shortened form of hideki, which is hide's real name.
as if it wasnt immediately obvious, they all have the same face tattoo. twice is a tattoo artist, and his devilism transforms people into "turned" devils permanently if he tattoos that pattern over peoples faces, turned devils being the monstrous forms of helldevils. helldevils dont usually take that form unless they are enraged or disrespected and wanting to cement their status as a god.
regular surface devils can also "turn" very rarely for a short amount of time, usually no more than once in a lifetime, given that they have established proper spiritual connection with their helldevil alternative. turned devils are immensely more powerful than regular devils, but are blinded by irrational thinking. basically raging as a barbarian in dnd.
hide has been turned, but he prefers to regularly appear a lot more humanoid than the rest. noize has not been turned because, as twice was tattooing him, he internally didnt want for it to work and his spirit chickened out. twice cannot use his devilism on himself. they still have the tattoos, though.
his devilism can be negated if the tattoo is somehow removed, usually by skinning that area, as laser removal may not fully remove the tattoo.
twice also has a turned devil that follows him around and gives him guidance. his name is beelzebub, and he is the turned form of his father, who he used his devilism on first. he did not inherit anything about twice's father, however, because the first person he turns is cemented to be only his guide devil, and not the result of whoever he decided to turn.
his devilism was extremely useful to asmodeus because twice could create an impenetrable army of turned devils to work for him. many turned devils adopt the helldevil mindset, however, and simply do not give a flying fuck about anything at all. they go along with whatever twice says, but in reality, they dont care. they just want to punch things.
a surprise to no one, noize's devilism was made one day while i was listening to D.O.W.N -Domination of Waiting Noise- by Boris while drawing. essentially, he breathes smoke that, if it gets into your ears, makes noise that shakes your eardrums so fucking aggressively that you cant do anything at all. even if you eardrums get punctured, you can still hear the noise anyways. its that fucking bad.
this power does have some drawbacks though. noize's ears are extremely sensitive and he practically breaks down any time anything is making more noise than necessary by his standards. this means that you have to speak super quietly to him or he will fuckin snap your neck. the earbud lookin things inside his ears were made by the church to help him with that and muffle sounds, but it still happens sometimes. he just has a really, really short fuse when it comes to noise.
it eventually goes away, but it can be combatted, you'd have to rip out your entire ear, inner ear included. you could also just plug your ears as hard as you can and not breathe any of the smoke in when hes releasing the smoke in the first place. you just have to be really cautious about when exactly the smoke has fully dissipated.
this is what being interested in noise music does to a mf. merzbow really just guided my hand in creating this abomination of a devilism.
hide doesnt have a very interesting devilism. his bones are just good. cant break them. thats it. hes used more or less as a mole to get insider information about the turned devil army and the brothers by tsuru n gang. again, even if he is their childhood friend, he has that idgaf mindset now. does not give a shit if he "betrays" anyone, especially since he's now seen the demented side of his friends with their jobs in the church.
noize and twice have different jobs in different sectors of the church. noize works as a hitman and an informant and twice mainly works as a punisher. he also just turns any badly behaved cultist into a turned devil for asmodeus. infinite power glitch.
