You may have noticed that I have not post any art. Do I even like to make art anymore? Dude, if only it were that simple. Just because you're unsatisfied doesn't mean the well of imagination and ideas dry up too. I've also started finding value in other things that aren't just fandom and consumerism (I'm so disenchanted with companies).
Should I leave tumblr? Instagram? Eh... Everything (on the internet) feels super prickly, unfriendly and wanting to steal our art. I'm sure if they could automate folks streaming video games they'd do that too -- its too bad that the humor and fun of streams comes from the actual humans making the comedy bites, right?
To be honest, I don't feel like my art is high on the radar of AI machines. I don't even draw Western styled characters that great (its fine). With that said, I can't continue to shrink online presences because I barely post at all, really.
I think my commission prices are set too high or people aren't seeing the value of purchasing my art (its fine) but one thing I refuse to do is settle by offering my art for less. I think I have to find some way to sell something (my shop doesn't do wonders either and really, I think I'm ready to give up my stock and throw in the towel).
My art has never really sold well and I have a small group of nice people who keep supporting me. I'm not saying my art is bad but it's kinda... if you'll forgive me comparing myself to Van Gogh here, but it feels like no one really gets it until I croak. I've mostly learned to live with it, but it does leave the whole "make art your career!" roadmap kinda blank doesn't it?
I'm trying to not be like "woe is me"! I just want to find my niche on this planet and I don't got eternity to do so -- I want to do something with myself and maybe I'll just make zines or art on the side. Sorry gang. I want to find my place on this planet. I want to make some sort of difference; I don't see it in making cute cartoon bunnies anymore.
