Oh I don’t think I ever posted my painting!! (I did post several WIPs on kofi though!) It’s hard to get a good picture of it, but I think it turned out nice. I worked on it for a long time and I really love it.

Remember when Maggie said she wanted The Raven Cycle to be a TV show or a movie, and half of us got excited, and the other half of us fell into abject terror?

Remember when Maggie turned tail & said The Raven Cycle wasn't going to be a TV show or movie, and we collectively agreed it was for the best, because there is no way a mass-media production company could create a live-action screen adaption of TRC that wouldn't divide the fandom while simultaneously ruining a large portion of the story or characters for us all? Then we went into groups and discussed which part of the screen-adaption of her Wolves of Mercy Falls series would be worst & agreed it would be the Twilight quality (TM) of the wigs, makeup & costuming?

Yeah, that phase.

Well, I took the initiative and am now neck-deep in creating an animated film of The Raven Cycle for the fandom. There are some characters & plot points I had to write out & write around (I'm sorry Mallory, I'm sorry Dog, I'm sorry Tad, I'm sorry old ladies at tea, I'm sorry Gansey's parents, I'm sorry HeadMaster, I'M SORRY) but if I'd done it scene-for-scene it'd be over 5 hours long and would have taken 6+ years to make. As it stands, the film is around 90 minutes long, and has taken 2 years so far to make from scratch. All in all, I'm expecting it to be another 6-8 months.

The designs are around 90% finished - the final touches will be added once I have created 3D puppets & have voice actors cast.

I'm currently making a full-length, 90ish minute long animated film using 3D animated puppets & sets, along with combining 2D & 3D elements. So far, I've done the character & set design, the script & the screenplay, along with a 2D run-through animation. HOWEVER, this is going to take a lot of time and effort to animate in 3D (guys, one totally animated 3D model can take hundreds of hours. And I have to create an entire cast, and sets) and I really need to know it's not for nothing. This has already taken absolutely forever, I need to know I'm not wasting my time when I could be spending my energy on something possible to monetise, instead. I'm doing this in my spare time, rather than reading or writing fics, or taking time out for myself. I've stayed up until 2am some nights just to finish the scene I'm on.

So please, please show me I'm not wasting my time.

I want to be able to get a group together - a really big group of people - and find volunteer voice actors, singers & musicians for the final film. I'd love to be able to give the characters the voices they deserve, and I want to be able to put original music into it, but I can't do that on my own & I don't want to do battle with Maggie's lawyers who would be at my throat if any of us make a penny from this. Which is why I'm proposing a fandom-wide group project for this. But in order to reach every nook and cranny of this fandom and find volunteers, I need this post shared and thrown around until it has wings of its own. 

So please. If you want me to make this film as well as I know I can, if you want to see an animated cast voiced by people with the right accents, if you want to hear Blue's music taste, if you want to hear the Murder Squash Song in all its meme glory, if you want to hear Adam's drawl, if you want to hear Cabeswater scream EDM music because Adam told it to, if you want to see the Mitsu and BMW racing down the highway, if you want to hear the Pig choke and grumble, if you want to hear Lynch finally laugh despite all of the pain & grief in the world, if you want to hear Gansey beg his Jane for just one kiss... if you want all of this to come to life, share & share & reshare & reshare this post over and over again.

We agreed that we didn't want a mass-media production company to ruin The Raven Cycle with a live-action series when they would care more about throwing cash around than about the art they were making. So let's work together to create an animated movie of it, instead - for the fandom, by the fandom
