attempts at painting some in-game screenshots. i saw peeps doing "virtual plein-airs" from video games and i thought it would be fun to try it with elden ring
also tried to emulate the zorn palette with the capital gate one, was really interesting to work with
original screenshots
I was inspired by @Amberfire's morrowind paintings, like this one https://cohost.org/Amberfire/post/4375806-seyda-neen
Apparently the phrase "virtual plein air" is kinda old, with at least one 2019 article referring to a facebook group of artists making paintings based on Google Street View, which is also really neat imo, but not quite as fun as going into Elden Ring and taking the screenshots myself :P
In searching the tag, I hadn't realized that @portablecity seems to have been doing this latter version of virtual plein air last year, although i remember liking those paintings a lot. I've never done a regular plein air myself, since i didnt work with paint before going digital.
umm, how about a process? heres one for the first painting.
