Something that's been on my mind for the last 3 years or so.

The understanding that many of life's most beautiful things are only going to be around for a little while by design really helped me process my mother's second cancer diagnosis. No one gets to live forever so it's important to spend the time you do have making connections with people you care about.

This week the Minneapolis Institute of Art is having a sand mandala made to commemorate the opening of a new tibetan shrine room later in the month. Watching a sand mandala made in this museum is one of my fondest memories of any museum as a kid so I'm very grateful to be able to experience it again.
