A devotional talisman featuring the panther of Dionysus. Although literary sources emphasized the panther/leopard pelts worn by Dionysus and his maenads, Attic vase paintings and both Greek and Roman mosaics of Dionysus frequently featured the god riding or in the company of a great cat (variously framed/translated by classicists as either a leopard or panther). This specific image is based on the pebble mosaic at Pella, from about 400 BCE. (https://www.theoi.com/Gallery/Z12.1.html)
I chose the panther for my first Dionysus devotional talisman because it is the cat, more often than the god, who has most often appeared to me in ecstatic visions.
The talisman is available in .925 sterling silver, brass, bronze, and shibuichi.
The talisman is available as a coin, as a pendant, or with three jumprings to be strung rosary-style in prayer beads.
Each piece is hand-made to order in my home studio, with unique variations and defects as a result of the fabrication and casting process.
