Got an original piece by an absolute legend

Framed drawing of a cowboy in white on black construction paper

Russell Butler aka buZ Blurr was a railroad worker in Arkansas in the 70s who noticed that other rail workers were leaving cryptic drawings on the boxcars he worked with at the railyard. Having trained as an artist himself he joined in and experimented with a few different icons until eventually landing on the Colossus of Roads figure in 1979. buZ drew literally thousands of copies of this image on railcars over the ensuing decades, giving each day's set a short phrase as a memento of whatever was on his mind that day. He also got involved in the mail art movement in which artists exchange small works via the postal service. He's 80 years old at this point and still selling originals, but it's sounding like he may stop soon so I had to grab this piece while it was still available. The man is a fascinating character and I absolutely love the image itself.
