My take on the Monarch from #LancerRPG's upcoming reprint. It may be presumptuous but take my [G] Type variant as a sort of ver. Ka deal. You're free to interpret it as either the original frame or a distinct variant.
The SSC Monarch [G] Type is the product of inter-corporate collaboration, a compromise that leaves nobody happy. Union forces rarely require the deployment of frames as specialized as the SSC Monarch, but a common refrain among Union elite forces and specialists are complaints about the undeniable limitations of the generalist Everest.
The Monarch [G] Types were developed as a special order for Union forces with GMS supervision. The result is a more rugged variant that favors survivability and tactical flexibility. Monarch [G] Types can stay deployed longer and better support the mixed arms forces typical of Union deployments.
Most Union troops agree it lacks the original's je nais sai quoi; meanwhile SSC considers the [G] Type to be an irritating expense they feel were strongarmed into by Union that goes against their branding. A small run is maintained and employed by specialists who appreciate its unique characteristics.
Not that I think canon is particularly important in Lancer, but I've always been enamored with seeing different mecha artists' approach to the same design and wanted to channel some of that energy. In the same way that Okawara, Katoki, Izubuchi, and Kobayashi will draw a Zaku in fundamentally different ways, I want my own takes on Lancer's designs to ring true to the core of the original while exploring my own aesthetic preferences.
Particularly obsessed fans of my work will remember I used the [G] Type naming scheme for my Everest design featured in the Solstice Rain supplement. If I decide to do more of these, I suppose that's the suffix to look out for.
