Last, but not least, is Yoot the Utahraptor, mascot to our Were-House events.
Yoot is the tenacious spirit of creativity and survival in the face of daunting circumstances. They live in their ancestral homeland in what are now the Rockies, adapting through wild climate changes and tectonic uplift, and now through the presence of humans.
Their skull head and black bones are symbolic of death, and their bright red and orange plumage belies the fire of life underneath, a duality of vitality and oblivion. They are fully aware this makes many humans uncomfortable, so they tend to keep distance unless the vibe is mutual.
Yoot is an artisan, a hunter, an explorer, and a scavenger. They have a habit of taking anything not nailed down if it looks abandoned (or if they think no one is looking). They would consider their new habitat to be those spaces abandoned by humans: derelict buildings and neglected land.
In those abandoned things, they find new life, crafting and selling forgotten objects to anyone willing to spare the cash. They are proud of this new cultural-ecological niche they have made for themself in the modern world, and they appreciate those who also recycle the old into the new.
