A close friend of mine had a birthday on Friday, and I painted his current favorite character as a gift! It was interesting doing something so different from what I usually do in terms of style.

This is only a teaser—see the whole piece now over on my Patreon! https://www.patreon.com/matthewhuntley

As far as the title goes, my friend has a humorous, self-deprecating kind of personality, and he's well aware of the many furry stereotypes. With that in mind, I decided to give this portrait a more tongue-in-cheek kind of title. It went over very well, thankfully!

caption from another site reads: “more outline work—trying to nail my mental image of this char down and drawing it so I have something to reference. I started resorting to moodboards / referencing quite often for this outline, didn’t I? (addressing you humorously, as if you were privy to all my thoughts.)”

My god, there are only 2 days left in the Great 30 (but really 31) Day Spreadsheet Attempt. It’s really interesting, and I’m making a note of this so I can put it in my round-up appraisal later, how this generated so many other kinds of work besides drawing! An artist really has to do it all !!!! But oh well, the drawing is the main thing…

Took a good four days of staring at Scrivener and descending into the depths of madness, but I did manage to come up with a prologue that I am happy with for the time being. Now it remains to be seen if it will stay that way.

On a separate note, I truly do hate straight lines and the prevalence of buildings I have planned for this comic does not bode well for my poor soul and shaky hands.
