A commentary on how, despite some people's best efforts, cities grow in an organic and unpredictable manner. Created for a digital exposition centered around our city's cultural heritage, as part of my final year on EMBAP's Art Licentiate course.

This collage was partially created using schematics from the abandoned plan of a Modernist rebuilding of Curitiba by the French architect Alfred Agache, created during Vargas's time in power, and "Jewish Woman with Oranges", a painting by Polish artist Aleksander Gierymski. Both sources are now in the public domain in Brazil and the USA. The quotation included is from "The Laily Worm and the Machrel of the Sea", a traditional ballad from England and Scotland. Here, it is applied to the modern statesman's inability to direct the growth of his own cities.
