Stop fixing this text by replacing awkward stilted words with contractions.
It's a deliberate stylistic choice, okay

you're editing and your brain suggests an alternative word that makes a sequence suddenly even sadder.

Me: "Hm, I should probably content warn this piece"
Also me: "What the hell do I content warn this as? I guess this? Oh, and that, of course. Also this? Maybe the other? ... Oh no."

Me then: "Ha ha I'm going to write a funny little story about a clone pilot that doesn't like the sea"
Me now, 6 stories deep: "... Oh no"
