actually a legitimately hard question! my usual go-to answer is Quest: Brian's Journey (GBC). it's an expanded version of Quest 64's basic plot which is already barebones, the dungeon design is not the least bit inventive, the combat is basic, the progression is basic. but something about it just really, really clicked with me! it may be basic, but it made for a satisfying experience i didn't expect much from. a comfy blanket of an RPG

since you asked this twice: I also love seeing people play through Clock Tower 1 fresh, since they usually don't know what they're doing and the gradual realization as they look up a guide and see that a lot of the game's scares and item locations are proc-gen is always a delight
