Nearly 10 million cats are kept in Japan, and many of them die of kidney disease. Since discovering 20 years ago the "AIM" protein which is found in the blood, Professor Miyazaki has been devoted to the research of this particular protein. Over the course of his research, it became apparent that AIM improves kidney function. He is now working on developing medication that may substantially extend the lifespan of cats.
Giving cats the lifespan of elves (deserved) makes it even more important to get your favorite furry angel bastard spayed or neutered!!
We decided to adopt the lighter gray tabby (naming him Riaka) since he kept trying to come inside and wasn't aggressive towards the other two. He's a little more skittish than Graybell, but it's just a matter of slow, gentle persuasion (and food).
About 2 weeks ago I took home my first cat, Pigeon! She's 6 months old and I got her despite swearing I wouldn't get a kitten because she was so sweet and adorable and I'm a sucker. I have since regretted this several times, usually after like, the fourth play session of the day because kitten energy. But when she's not being rambunctious she's basically attached to me, always wants to be held or as close to me as possible if I'm not willing to hold her. IT'S EXTREMELY CUTE. And when she's falling asleep in my arms, I can ruffle her tummy and squeeze her toe beans all I want.
I am very much looking forward to her growing older and more independent/lazy though because man. Like 70% of my free time is this cat right now. Though probably when she gets to that point, I'll look back on this and miss it lol.
