My cat's name has nothing to do with pokémon. I did not even realize Skitty was the name of a pokémon until like a year after we named her that, because I do not play video games.
It's a shortening of "skittish kitty" because when we first met her she was very nervous and easily frightened but warmed up to us very quickly (with the help of bribes in the form of treats). She acts that same nervous way around any new people, until they've also bribed her with sufficient treats. She is a sweet girl.
If you don't do this with your cat at least every once in a while are you even human
