This is an extremely petty subtweet (or w/e) of a Tumblr post but jokes that are like:

[Child character]: I have self hatred due to trauma

[Adult character]: You’re ten

Are so irritating to me, not just because they’re often OOC on the part of the adult character but also because it smacks of the same dismissiveness that thinks children (or even teenagers!) aren’t full human beings with gender identities, sexual orientations, romantic interests, mental illnesses, and yes, trauma

I get it’s a joke but an adult should NEVER respond to a child with “you’re a child” about anything, especially trauma. Children deserve our care and respect
